Miami International University of Art & Design is hosting a special exhibit with DIY:MIA, an independent grass roots organization dedicated to community arts opportunities and spaces. This organization launched a word of mouth campaign that called for art that demonstrates the belief that the creation and publication of one’s own design is the practice of a free society. According to a statement issued by the founders of DIY:MIA, “We support artwork of interaction not merely consumption, always on the outside, anonymous, and yet everywhere you look. Appearing as brief glimpses of political commentary, mysterious creatures and more, found on bus stops, stop signs, walls, anywhere.” Ultimately, they seek to provide opportunities for public interactions by the means of art.
